Our Côte d’Ivoire & Ghana Chale Wote 2026 tour will take you to two of West Africa’s hottest countries for 10 days and 9 nights, enjoying the best art, music, culture and cuisine. Your time will start in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, with a city tour of major landmarks, museums and markets, including the Pyramid, F Tower, Museum of Ivory Coast Civilizations, CAVA Market, and Bushman Cafe, among others. You’ll eat delicious Ivorian food, experience renowned Ivorian nightlife, and enjoy the lively Ivorian Sunday brunch culture. Next, you’ll head to the capital of Yamoussoukro, with visits to the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, Presidential Palace, Crocodile Lake, Grand Mosque, Felix Houphouet Boigny Foundation, and a cocoa farm.

After a fabulous time in Ivory Coast, you’ll head to Ghana. First up is the capital city of Accra, where you’ll visit important landmarks like Kwame Nkrumah Park, Independence Square and Jamestown Lighthouse. You’ll enjoy the good vibes and fun on Labadi Beach and a private beach club. You’ll also travel to the Central region, where you’ll visit Assin Manso, the former slave market where captive slaves received their last bath; Elmina Castle, where slaves were held before being shipped off to the Americas; and Kakum National Park, a preserved tropical rain forest with a canopy walkway overlooking the treetops. You’ll have a traditional naming ceremony where you’ll receive a Ghanaian name. You’ll also enjoy the numerous Chale Wote Festival events, including art exhibitions, concerts, and much more! Your time in Ghana will end at our farewell dinner, where you’ll have one last frolic in Accra before preparing for your return home. Join us for a great time in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.

Do I need a Visa?

US citizens need tourist visas for travel to Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. The Visa fee for Côte d’Ivoire is approximately $85 and the Visa fee for Ghana is $60 to $100.  If you are not a US citizen, check the visa requirements for your country.

Do I need any vaccinations?

The Yellow Fever vaccine is required for all visitors, unless you're eligible for an exemption due to health indications. You must present a Yellow Card as proof of vaccination upon arrival. Visit the CDC website for the most current information.

What is the name of the arrival and departure airport?

The arrival airport is the Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and departure airport is Accra International Airport (ACC) in Accra, Ghana.

Is airfare included?

Airfare is not included in the tour price and must be purchased separately by attendees. Round trip flights from the US typically cost $1,200 to $1,800. One-way flights from Côte d’Ivoire to Ghana are around $200 to 250.

How much is this trip?

This trip is $2,900 per person for double occupancy and $3,400 for single occupancy. Single occupancy spots are limited.

Is lodging included?

Yes, 3.5 or 4 star hotel accommodations for 9 nights are included. All lodging will be well rated for service and quality.

Is ground transportation included?

Yes, airport transfers to/from the hotel are included in the package price. If other attendees are arriving in close time, you will likely be transported together. Air conditioned transportation to all activities on the Itinerary is also included.

Are meals included?

Daily breakfast is included. Food will also be provided at the Welcome Dinner, Sunday Brunch, Farewell Dinner and several lunches. Other meals are at your expense.

Are alcoholic drinks included?

Alcoholic beverages are only included for specific activities. Champagne, beer and wine will be included during the Welcome Dinner and Farewell Dinner. Other alcoholic drinks are at your expense.

What activities are included?

We will spend 10 days/9 nights in Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Assinie, Accra and Cape Cape Coast. We will visit city landmarks, museums, monuments, historical sites, markets, and beaches. In Ghana, we will also attend scheduled Chale Wote Festival activities. All entrance and activity fees are included for all excursions on the Itinerary.

What is the Chale Wote Festival?

Chale Wote is a street art festival held every August in Accra, Ghana. Known for its vibrant street art and community murals, Chale Wote features flamboyant processions, exhibitions, art fairs, masquerade parties, fashion parades, and more. Chale Wote translates to “Friend, let’s go” in the local Ga language.

Will I have any free time?

Yes, although we have daily guided tours and activities, most evenings will be free for you to relax or explore on your own.

When should I plan to arrive?

Your tour will begin in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Most flights arrive in Abidjan in the evening, so there are no formal activities planned on the arrival date of August 8, 2026. There will be an informal Meet and Greet for those who wish to meet other attendees and share a drink. Your tour will officially start with a City Tour on the morning of August 9, 2026, so you should arrive in Abidjan by then.

When should I plan to leave?

Your tour will officially end in Accra, following our visit to Aburi Gardens on Monday, August 17, 2026. You should schedule your flight to depart any time after 3:00 pm.

Can you match me with a roommate?

While we make every effort to match solo attendees seeking roommates, we cannot promise to find one for you. In the event that no roommate is available, you will be required to pay the single occupancy rate.

How can I reserve a spot on this trip?

Full or partial payment can be made to hold a spot on this trip. If making a partial payment, a non-refundable deposit of $250 USD is required. The deposit is applied towards the total balance due.

Are payment plans available?

Yes, a monthly payment plan is available. Payments are due on the 1st day of each month and all payments must be complete by the final payment deadline of June 1, 2026. All payment plans include a $50 administrative fee.

What if I pay for the trip and can no longer attend?

The trip is non-refundable, but it is transferable. You are permitted to resell your slot to another participant, but Travel Africa Movement is unable to offer a refund. See our Terms and Conditions for more detail.
